Technical analysis of the modified Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process for direct CO2 conversion into gasoline fuel: Performance improvement via ex-situ water removal

چکیده
The modified Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) process is a promising technology for direct CO2 conversion into liquid fuels. However, the low yield of fuels (below 29%) observed during CO2-FTS still great concern commercial deployment. Therefore, new strategies are needed to improve both and fuel process. A steady-state model based on first principles Anderson-Schulz-Flory (ASF) distribution was developed predict gasoline range hydrocarbons (C5-C11). implemented in Aspen Plus® using Fortran® routines validation performed different H2/CO2 feed ratios. Two configurations (including three-stage reactor series single with recycle) were considered performance analysis improvement through ex-situ water removal. Both showed significant improvements (from 34 above 70%) up 61.0% yield. Though recycle achieved higher production rate than 3-stage series, comparative at same 71.5% revealed that have similar efficiency roughly 66.4%.

Directly converting CO2 into a gasoline fuel
The direct production of liquid fuels from CO2 hydrogenation has attracted enormous interest for its significant roles in mitigating CO2 emissions and reducing dependence on petrochemicals. Here we report a highly efficient, stable and multifunctional Na-Fe3O4/HZSM-5 catalyst, which can directly convert CO2 to gasoline-range (C5-C11) hydrocarbons with selectivity up to 78% of all hydrocarbons w...
متن کاملFischer-Tropsch synthesis using bio-syngas and CO2
While Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) using coal and natural gas in conventional reactors is an almost well-established technology, the production of liquid hydrocarbons from syngas obtained from biomass is in its preliminary stages of commercialization in countries like Germany. With concerns about global warming and ways of disposing of CO2 being searched for, CO2 hydrogenation using FTS to l...

The discovery of the catalytic synthesis of ammonia must rank as one of the important discoveries by mankind. In addition to providing the fertilizer needed to feed an expanding population, Fritz Haber’s recognition of recycle processing combined with the developing German technology to handle high pressures of hydrogen, led a major revolution in the chemical industry. In rapid succession, the ...

متن کاملPotential for Coal-to-Liquids Conversion in the United States—Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis
The United States has the world s largest coal reserves and Montana the highest potential for mega-mine development. Consequently, a large-scale effort to convert coal to liquids (CTL) has been proposed to create a major source of domestic transportation fuels from coal, and some prominent Montanans want to be at the center of that effort. We calculate that the energy efficiency of the best exi...
